The Sydney Murugan Temple Thiruvizha (Annual Festival) -2021 will commence on
Friday the 19th of March 2021 and will continue for 11 days. Devotees are welcome

The Thiruvizha concludes with the Arththayama Pooja.

The Saiva Manram will provide letters of authority to the Group Co-ordinators who
in turn will then distribute these letters within their group. The group members who
collect donations must produce the letter of authority upon demand by the person
making a donation. Receipting of donations

• The Group Co-ordinators shall collect all required receipt books from the Treasurer
for distribution amongst their own group members. The Group Co-ordinators are
responsible for all receipt books issued within their group. The group members and
co-ordinators must issue a receipt for every donation received.

All receipts must have the donator\’s details e.g. full name of the person making the
donation, address, contact phone number & E-mail address. If a receipt is required to
be cancelled for any reason, all copies of the receipt must be cancelled and counter
signed. It is the Group Co-ordinators\’ responsibility to ensure that all receipts
irrespective of whether it is used or not is in order. Handing over of collections

• The Group Co-ordinators and group members must hand over all the collections to
the volunteer on duty at the temple counter on a weekly basis (preferably on Friday
nights). The volunteer on duty at the temple counter is required to issue an official
receipt on which it should be clearly written the group\’s detail.

 

Within two weeks of the Annual Festival conclusion, the Group Co-ordinators must
ensure that the entire collections from their respective group is handed-over to the
temple and all the receipt books are returned to the Treasurer. Donating directly at
the temple counter

• Donations for the Festival can also be made directly at the temple counter. The
volunteer on desk duty at the counter is required to issue an official receipt to the
devotee noting their details e.g. full name of the person making the donation,
address, contact phone number and group details. Reporting of the collection,

• Within two months of the Annual Festival conclusion, the Treasurer is required to
prepare a summary of accounts for each individual group concerned. A copy of this is
to be given to the respective Group Co-ordinators for their verification.

Transport Arrangements-2021

• A special but shuttle service will be in operation from Westmead Railway Station
(Railway Pde) to the temple (including return trip) on the following days Flag
Hoisting day, Chariot festival day & Theerthath Thiruvizha day from 8.30 am to 3.00
pm.

• Public Transport buses are available from Parramatta to the temple. But route nos
are T80, 811X & 8100 (811X & 810X operate in the morning and evening only).
The Saiva Manram requests your co-operation to conduct the Annual Festival and to
complete the activities successfully.

During the Annual Festival days, you are kindly requested to abide by the following
guidelines:

1. You are requested to park your vehicles strictly within the parking area or as
directed, without causing obstruction to other vehicles that have been already parked.
If you happen to park your vehicle outside the temple premises, please make sure that
you do not park on any road shoulders or block any driveways. If possible, leave your
footwear in your vehicles.

2. The \’smashing of coconuts\’ during festival days is only permissible on the Chariot
festival day at the specified place and time.

3. All activities that may cause injury or adverse pain to your body including fire
walking, body piercing, etc. are prohibited.

4. Anyone who wishes to participate in performing \”Sangalpam\” must be present at
the temple for the morning session at 8.30am and at 4.30pm for the evening session.
5. Preference will be given to carry Lord Murugan in the procession to the respective
Group members during their festival days.

6. Group Co-ordinators are responsible for organising a devotee from their group to
chant 108 Porti and \”Panchapuranam\” hymns.

7. Group Co-ordinators are responsible for organising and distributing the
Prasathams.

8. It will be appreciated if the Thiruvizha Groups can help to clean the inner and
outer areas of the temple following the conclusion of the day\’s activities.

9. Devotees are kindly requested to use the pedestrian crossing opposite the temple to
safely cross the Great Western Highway.

10. It is highly recommended for everyone to wear mask at the Temple. We can all be
proud of a successful Thiruvizha if devotees give consideration to the above
mentioned.
