Shri Vinayaka Shankaranarayana Durgamba Temple is a settlement on the bank of the Netravati River, in Bantwal taluka, at Dakshina Kannada. History
Nandavara once had royal associations. There were many palaces and temples in the area. None, nor the fort built by the kings, survive today. Nandavar was a very ancient and renowned place. For centuries it was also a historical center. Nandavara was the capital of the Nanda Dynasty, which ruled this region for several centuries.

Shri Rajarajeshwari Temple, Polali
Shri Rajarajeshwari temple is located at Polali in Kariyangala Village of Bantwal Taluk in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka State. Shri Kshetra Polali is in the heart of this village surrounded by high hillocks and wide paddy fields. River Phalguni flows from east on the northern side a furlong way from the temple. It turns left towards south at the back of the temple in the Western side. This place was being called as Pural and the deity in the temple was known as Porala Devi in several old records and ancient epigraphs available.
Football Game (well known as Polali Chendu) during the Annual festival: Puliapura is its Sanskrit version. In Kannada this is called Polali. It is believed that King Suratha got the temple constructed, installed the image and placed his own crown on the head of the image. This is an ancient temple. This temple has been alluded to in the Ashokan inscriptions and in the reports of the foreign travelers who visited India. Queen Chennammaji of Keladi visited Polali and got a grand chariot constructed for the temple.

This game during the temple festival is very popular. Members of a particular cobbler family at Mijar prepare this leather ball. The members of the oil miller family of ‘Kadapu Karia’ bring the leather ball from Mijar. On their way back they come to the house of Malali Ballal. They first place the ball in the cow dung washed front yard of the house and inform them the date of the football festival.

Kudroli Gokarnatha Temple, Mangalore
Sri Narayana Guru (A social reformer and a saint) constructed this temple in 1912. This temple is situated at Kudroli, which is about 3 Km away from the main city area of Hampankatta. The original temple structure was in Kerala style, which was replaced, by Chola style during recent renovation in 1991.
Gokarnanatheshwara, Lord Shiva, is the main deity. The main temple is surrounded by the smaller temples for Mahaganapathi, Subramanya, Shaneeshwara, the Navagraha, Annapoorneswari and Anandabhairava.
History
As per the Guru’s advice, idols of Lord Ganapathy, Lord Subramanya, Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava, the Nava Grihas (Lords of nine planets), Lord Shanishwara and Lord Shri Krishna has been installed at the Kshethra.
The land on which the temple is built was earlier used by Tippu Sultan to graze his horses. Hence the name Kudre-valli (Kudre in Kannada means horse) which later on became Kudroli.

How to reach the temple:
From the main bus stand (State Bank bus stand) of Hampankatta of Mangalore city, one can reach the temple by catching city bus (nos. 1, 13, 13A) and getting down at Kudroli stop (in front of temple Main Gate). It is just half an hour journey by bus. We can reach by hiring auto-rickshaws.
Also if you are travelling from Surathkal or Kottara side you can get down in Lady Hill and catch city bus (nos. 1, 13, 13A) and get down at Kudroli stop .

Earlier to 10th century A.D. Kadri was an important centre of Buddhism. Documents supporting the fact are available in and around Kadri. During 10th century A.D. Buddhism began to loose its grip and new belief viz. Natha Pantha (cult) rooted in Kadri. Natha Pantha is a modified religious practice, which is, came from Vajrayana religious practice of Mahayana branch of Buddhism. In course of time it shined with Shiva beliefs. History:About 800 years ago, two brahmin youth Karinjattaya and Ichlattaya brothers arrived at Kumbla county from Uttara Kannada for publicising Sanatana belief. At that period Tulunadu was ruled by Taulava King. Bhoota worship was the ritual in practice at that time in this region. The place where Ichlattaya settled was called Ichlampady and the other by Karinjattaya was called Karinja. In the middle of Karinja and Ichlampady in a scenic beautiful area was built a Lord Shiva Temple. These brahmin without any decendants had given away their agricultural property along with the Temple to the Bunts who were helping them.
